As owner of Drink Eat Play, Dan Silberstein leads a Los Angeles company that conceptualizes and promotes a variety of food and drink events, from the LA Beer Festival to the LA Bacon Festival. Dan Silberstein is currently guiding planning for the second annual Bacon Festival, which will take place at the Petersen Auto Museum and feature “all things bacon.” In addition to sampling savory and sweet bacon dishes, participants can try an array of cocktails that complement the food.
One of the featured Bacon Festival vendors is The Sticky Pig, a Costa Mesa, California, company specializing in “candied bacon confections.” The signature flavors include the Rogue, comprised of buttery caramel, fleur de sel, and toffee. Also popular is the Lakshmi, which is comprised of milk chocolate, sweet coconut curry, and kaffir lime leaf. A complex creation is the aptly shaped Pig Snout, which combines bacon and dark chocolate with Oreos and Reese’s Pieces. The confectionary company also offers gooey pecan bacon tarts, which are ideal as an after-meal dessert.
